There's something about fall in the Ozarks that feels like magic, isn't there? The crisp air, cozy sweaters, warm drinks in hand... it just begs for memory-making with your people.


But here's the thing: your kids probably won't remember how perfectly the pumpkins were stacked on your porch or whether you pulled off the picture-perfect tablescape. What they will remember is how it felt.

Local Festivals


There are so many festivals to explore in the Ozarks! My favorite is always the Fair Grove Heritage Festival (the last weekend of September)! It's full of crafts, booths, yummy food, and fun activities. My own church will be there selling corn on the cob (my personal favorite childhood fall memory!)--so come say hi if you stop by! These small town moments are the ones that stick with us.

Silver Dolar City's Harvest Festival


If you want a big adventure, head to Branson for SDC's Harvest Festival. Pumpkins everywhere, live music, delicious treats (hello, apple dumplings and pumpkin spice churros!!)... it's fall memories wrapped up in one giant glowing pumpkin display!












Fall baking & story time


Whether it's pumpkin bread, apple crisp, or Grandma's cookie recipe, the smell of something warm in the oven will stick with them long after fall is gone. So pull out a stack of fall books, make a yummy treat, and pile under a blanket. My kids still ask to read Hopefully the Scarecrow by Michelle Houts and The Leaf Thief by Alice Hemming every year.

Pumpkin Patch Adventures


Because nothing screams childhood fall like running between rows of pumpkins taller than your toddler. Bonus: you'll get some sweet, unposed photos of here (and if you want me to tag along, I know the best lighting 😉). Gardner's Orchard in Brighton, Missouri is holding their Pumpkin Festival this October--think tractor rides, pumpkins galore, and a day that feels straight out of a storybook. Your kids will remember racing through rows of pumpkins and sticky fingers from caramel apples for years to come.

Family Photos
